Doordat Tour of Duty vanaf begin 1990 door Veronica op Nederland 2 werd uitgezonden en omdat de plaat veel werd gedraaid op Radio 3, stond de plaat ditmaal vier weken op de nummer 1-positie van de Nederlandse Top 40 en vijf weken op de nummer 1-positie in de Nationale Top 100. In Nederland was de single echter wél succesvol. In de Billboard Hot 100 werd deze keer slechts de 61e positie bereikt. You wonder if it had something to do with their otherness, as though the fact that the American sounds they emulated-blues, country, R&B-didn't belong to them made them both more reverential and more free to explore. But it didn’t exist at quite the same scale, or with the same reach, or the same sheer attitude that made the Stones so seismic.
